10 Educational YouTube Channels for Preschoolers

December 7, 2020 by Lavita Leave a Comment

Kids watching YouTube

Children aged 3-5 years are recommended no more than one hour of screen time per day. And depending on your situation, sometimes your child might end up watching more. It is easy to judge other parents unless you are in their shoes. Maybe that is the only way to get some work done around the house or to take some time out for yourself in your hectic daily routine. However, screentime shouldn’t mean mindless surfing. It is necessary to ensure that it is quality time spent learning and getting exposed to useful content. I have written down a list of 10 educational YouTube channels for preschoolers. I hope it helps!

1.Super Simple Songs

This YouTube channel contains catchy popular rhymes that will keep your children entertained along with teaching them alphabets, numbers, colors, shapes, and so on. Though we might feel rhymes and songs might not be so beneficial, you will be surprised how much kids learn from these. They also get exposed to necessary skills such as brushing teeth, taking a bath, or going potty on their own. Right now as my 4-year-old is taking distance learning classes, I have seen their teachers using this channel to teach them important lessons in an entertaining way.

2. Storybots

Storybots can be found on the Netflix Junior YouTube channel. This channel features interesting characters that teach young kids important lessons about planets, dinosaurs, vehicles, and so on. It will also help your children expand their vocabulary and knowledge.

3. Alphablocks

A fun way to learn about alphabets and words. It is also a great way to learn how to read. This channel has been useful for me as I feel my 4-year-old learned about phonetics watching this. She started to read words when she was three and now can read age-appropriate books on her own. It not only talks about letters and words but also helps children associate words with different concepts such as colors and weather. And also with festivals like Halloween and Christmas.

4. Numberblocks

Just like Alphablocks teaches about letters, this channel teaches numbers. Your children can get introduced to the world of numbers in a fun and interesting way. Children can learn to count and identify numbers. It also teaches odd and even numbers along with addition and subtraction.

5. Read Aloud Books Channels

There are numerous channels on YouTube that read aloud popular and educational books for children. That is another way to keep your children occupied when you might not have the time for your kids. Some of the popular channels are Story Time at Awnie’s House, Grandma’s House, and Books Alive. You will find many popular children’s books on these channels. This is also another way to build your child’s interest in books.

6. Ryan’s Easy Science Experiments for Kids

How about learning science while having fun! The science experiments on this channel are easy to follow and you can redo them with everyday objects. Your children can learn a lot of new scientific ideas and concepts. It is also a great channel for parents to get ideas about how to teach difficult information to young kids so that they understand easily.

7. Cosmic Kids Yoga

This is another Youtube channel I have seen teachers use during the Pandemic for online learning. This is a yoga channel for little kids presented in a fun way. Your little ones can follow the steps while watching the videos and get some yoga time themselves. They are easy and uncomplicated so that young learners can follow them without any difficulty.

8. Sesame Street

This famous and popular series is a must while compiling a list of educational youtube channels for preschoolers. The series premiered in 1969 and since then has managed to garner little one’s attention from around the globe. Apart from alphabets, numbers, and colors, they also teach healthy habits and skills to kids.

9. Blippi

This was a character I was not aware of. But having watched the channel with my daughter, I found that not only is it interesting for kids but it also teaches new information. Such as different types of trucks and how they work. And also information about fall colors, how to bake, different types of animals and so on.

10. Jack Hartman Kids Music Channel

A former social worker, Jack Hartman makes videos on educational children’s music. He teaches numbers, alphabets, nutrition, rhyming words, and many such topics through music and dance. Your children can learn a lot while dancing to his catchy music.

There are many similar YouTube channels like the above mentioned such as Cocomelon and Art for Kids Hub which is also beneficial and educational for young children. You can be assured that the above mentioned educational YouTube channels for preschoolers will provide quality screentime to your kids and you will not have to worry about wasted time.

Do let us know in the comments which shows you like to watch with your kids! Also if you have any other suggestions or recommendations then do let us know. Looking forward to your inputs.
