10 Ways To Make Your Child Feel Special and Loved

March 17, 2022 by Shanta Rath Leave a Comment

Every child is special to their parents. Adoring and appreciating your kid every day will make your child feel safe and self-assured. It will make them feel them feel special and loved. Try to give your child your love, time, and exclusive attention. It will help to boost his self-esteem and self-confidence.

As a parent, you have the most significant impact on your little one’s life. You can help them feel secure by demonstrating to your child that you care during your routine, day-to-day activities.

Your little one will cherish your love and will learn to focus on learning and creativity. You can integrate the following ideas into your regular routines and make your child feel valued and loved:

Listen to Your Child

Share enthusiasm with your kid as he tries to tell you something. Listening to your child demonstrates that you value their thoughts and opinions. Also, ensures that you are there for them to understand their ideas and solve their worries. It could be about small things like cartoons that you have both watched together or about bigger emotions that your child is dealing with. Actively listen to his conversations and show that you care for him.

Praise Your Child

Shower genuine praise on your child as often as you can. It will enhance his morale. Applaud your child for the efforts he puts in his work. Let your child know that you admire him for his inputs, irrespective of the outcome. Choose your words to praise the ways he had tried to complete a work. With this praise, your kid will gain the motivation to put in efforts and try to do better.

Have Fun

Having fun together is as much important as completing schoolwork or day-to-day activities. Spend some entertaining, pleasurable time with your little one. Allow some unstructured time just to be together and have loads of fun. You can show your kid that you value him enough to spend time together.

Plan short trips with your kid. You can play games or some sports with your child and involve yourself with your little one’s activities. Visiting a museum or a library is another way of relating yourself to your kid. You can discuss things of artistic cultural importance in the museum or help your child pick up some books in the library. You can go for a short drive with your kid and spend some valuable time together. Share conversations with your kid along the way. Try to talk about topics that he enjoys the most, and make your child feel special and loved.

Rejoicing Festivals

Celebrating festivals together is another way of associating yourself with your kid. You can bake some cookies with your child or prepare a cake at home during Christmas or Valentine’s Day. Your little one will enjoy the simple pleasures and this will make him feel special during such joyous occasions. Also, he will carry these positive memories with him that will teach him to value family time.

Give Affection and Show Gestures

Physical bonding with your child helps to nourish the parent-child relationship. Kids need physical reassurance. Give your child hugs and kisses as often as you can. It will lead to fewer psychological problems in the future.

Parents can exhibit their love with small gestures. Say nice things about your kid in front of other people. Your kid will feel happy when you say something good about them. It also instills positive behaviour when they learn that they are appreciated.

Ask For their Decisions

Make your child feel special by including their decisions in family matters. Ask their opinions whether it is about relocating or going to a hotel for dinner. Let them know that you value their opinion in all crucial matters at home. Make them feel involved

Have Meals Together

Share your dinner time with your kid. It is another way of bonding emotionally with your child.

Make your meals free from screen time. Show your interest in your little one’s daily activities, ask questions and appreciate him for his work. Praise your kid for finishing his meals on time. It is a great way of connecting with your kid and making your child feel special.

Create a Fun Bedtime Routine

You can make bedtime fun for your kids and a time to wind the day together. It is the right opportunity for you to share your thoughts with your little one.

Cuddle with your kid and read some interesting storybooks. Narrate your childhood experiences with your little one. Be thankful to your child for the tasks he had done for you during the day.

Request Help to Make Your Child Feel Special and Loved

You can ask for help from your little one for doing the daily chores such as setting up the dining table, keeping left-over food in the fridge, or walking the dog. Appreciate your child for helping you to complete the simple tasks.

You can also involve your child to assist you in using newer technological apps you are not aware of. Thank your child earnestly for making efforts to teach you.

Support Unconditionally

Try to give your child your love and support even if he makes a mistake. Let him know that you are backing him even in his worst times. Discuss the situation with him and help your little one to fix their errors. It will give your child a lot of courage and make him feel more valued.

The above tips would surely help parents to make their children feel more secure and loved. Kids need to know that you care for them. Opting for these simple strategies can make a huge difference. It will help your little ones be more self-assured and independent as they grow!
