We all remember our grandma’s delicious recipes served to us during our childhood days. They were so nutritious and wholesome. Our grandmas have taught us the value of food in our everyday life. They have shown us how to take pleasure in a variety of healthy foods. And so here I present a few grandma’s recipes.

In the present day, the taste buds of kids have changed. Children love fast food, burgers, pasta, and pizzas a lot. We can remake some of our conventional grandma’s food for today’s kids. They would simply love the new recipes. All we need is to explore our grandma’s recipes further and provide an appetizing taste, tempting flavor, and appearance to the food.

Here are some quick and easy tips for remaking grandmas’ recipes. Try it, and your kids will simply love it!

Pancakes

We all love our grandma’s pancakes. Made of wheat flour and jaggery, they were grilled to perfection with dollops of ghee added to them. We can remake this recipe by adding chopped almonds, cashew nuts, and pistachios. This will help the pancake retain the taste and flavor and at the same time look colorful. The kids would love to gorge on this tasty food.

Chickpeas Salad

Chickpeas curry was a popular menu in most Indian households. We all loved this lip-smacking curry prepared by our grandmas. So, we can modify this recipe by boiling chickpeas and adding grated cucumber, carrots, finely chopped onions, tomatoes, and coriander leaves.

Kids love cheese. So, you can add shredded cheese and pasta cheese sauce to the new recipe. The kids would simply love this food.

Potato Chips

We all remember our grandma’s potato vegetable cooked to perfection. We can bring alterations to this recipe by half-boiling the potatoes, cutting it into long wedges, and then simmering it with little butter, till it turns crisp. And then season it with oregano, mixed herbs, and red chili flakes.

Serve it to the kids on a plate with a tomato sauce, and they will simply love it.

Spinach Omelet

Spinach vegetable was cooked frequently by our grandmas for lunch. It was a simple dish cooked with lentils or fried with onions, tomatoes, and potatoes. We would fuss over it, and our grandmas would coax us to eat it.

The protein-packed leafy vegetable can be remade easily to suit our kid’s tastes. We can chop the leafy vegetable and blend it with gram flour, water, and some spices like red chili flakes and garlic. The batter can then be used to spread in a greasy frying pan. Now, toss it over and cook both sides till it turns crisp. Add some cheese or butter over it and serve this delicious snack to the kids. They would simply adore it.

Vegetable Sandwich

Mixed vegetables were usually prepared by our grandmas during festive occasions. The traditional recipe had vegetables like french beans, carrots, peas, cauliflower, pumpkin, raw bananas, and coconut.

We can remake this traditional recipe well to suit our kid’s preferences. Most of the kids detest eating vegetables. So, we can use some of the boiled vegetables like french beans, carrots, peas, cauliflower, or raw bananas, and mash them. Add some mixed herbs, pepper powder, cheese, and red chili flakes to it. And then fill them in bread and grill them till it turns crunchy. The tasty, yummy sandwich is now ready to be served, and you will see your little one enjoying eating all the vegetables.

Sweet Potato Chips

Our grandmas would usually prepare sweet potato as a dessert cooked with ghee, milk, and coconut. We can use sweet potatoes to prepare a wonderful snack for our kids.

Sweet potatoes are full of antioxidants and are healthy to consume. Steam the sweet potatoes, cut them into wedges, and stir fry them with ghee or butter till it turns crisp. Kids will enjoy this delicious mouth-watering snack.

Chappati Rolls

Chappatis and a dry vegetable were one of the favorite menus in a majority of North Indian households. Our grandmas would usually serve it for dinner or breakfast.

We can remake this recipe for today’s kids. Chappatis can be stuffed with vegetables like carrots, tomatoes, cabbage, onion, cheese, and mayonnaise sauce and the delicious chapatti rolls are ready to be eaten. Kids will simply love this recipe.

Beetroot Pulao

Beetroot vegetables often made a way into our plates either for lunch or dinner. Our grandmas would cook this palatable vegetable with great care. They were cut into small cubes and stir-fried with mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chilies, and coconut.
But most of the kids today detest eating beetroot. So we can remake the rice recipe by adding whole spices, grated beetroot, and tomatoes. The rice is cooked in ghee. Garnish it with cashew nuts and raisins. The irresistible pulao with a rich taste and flavor is well-liked by the kids.

Semolina Pancakes

Vegetable upma was usually served as breakfast in most households. Our grandmas would add a variety of vegetables to upma to make it delicious. We can remake our grandma’s recipe to make it more appetizing.

Just take semolina in a bowl and add an equal quantity of curd. You can add vegetables of your kid’s preference like shredded cabbage, cauliflower, finely chopped carrots, beans, and capsicum. Mix it well and pour it over a greased non-stick pan. The pancake can then be decorated with grated cheese, Serve it to the kids and they will instantly savor on this yummy semolina pancake.

Yam Chips

Most children detest eating yam vegetable. We can remake our grandma’s conventional way of cooking yam to cater to our kid’s tastes. All we can is steam or boil yam, cutting them into long wedges, and mix them well with spices like garlic powder, oregano, red chili flakes, pepper powder, and coat it with bread crumbs. Fry them with little oil till it turns crisp.

Serve them with mayonnaise sauce or with tomato sauce. Your kids will simply love it.

Cauliflower Nuggets

Cauliflower curry or a dry cauliflower vegetable was a popular item when we were quite young. It was cooked frequently by our grandmothers and continues to be a well-liked vegetable even today. The vegetable can be remade in a variety of ways to suit kid’s tastes. The cauliflower can be boiled and stir-fried with butter, oregano, red chili flakes, and mixed herbs till it turns crisp. All kids will simply love this wonderful snack.

Children feel hungry at the most unexpected hours. The above recipes can easily be tried at home. They are easy and quick to cook. Kids will love the wonderful items that we have remade from our grandma’s recipes. They are healthy wholesome and nutritious. Try it, and you will find that your little one simply loving these recipes!
