Most of the kids today are attracted like magnets to smartphones, iPad, video games or are simply glued to television screens. Moms are uncomfortable and feel guilty about it but have little choice as they hurry to finish their daily chores or try hard to find little time for themselves. Playing with kids and making time for fun activities for their little ones is not easy for moms.

There are several leisure interests for pre-schoolers that need little parent involvement. With simple household items, you can make activities enjoyable and exciting for your tots. You can set up several indoor games for your preschooler. All it needs is a little bit of planning. With little arrangements, you can encourage your little ones to do something creative and constructive.

There are several exciting amusements for toddlers that moms can use to keep their kids active at home. That way it can help limit their screen time.

The article provides a list of fun activities that moms can do for pre-schooler kids:

Creative toys

You can offer your child some creative toys that will keep him engaged for a long time. Offer your child some brain teaser games, puzzles, play-dough, legos, magnetic-shapes puzzles, and building block sets that will keep your child busy throughout the game.

Painting

You can give your kids poster board and paints and allow them to use their imagination to create their masterpieces. They will have a lot of fun doing so. If you are worried about the mess, designate an area in your house that is easy to clean.

Toy Wash

Keep a bowl of water with towels and toys so that your kids can play with them. You can immerse some plastic dolls, toys, keys, small cars, plastic animals in water and let your kids clean the toys. Not only will they have squeaky clean toys, but they will also get to engage in a fun sensory activity.

Make a Game Box

Make a game box and keep your child’s favorite games, toys, simple puzzles, playing cards, or coloring books in it. Your child will love to explore the game box as you rush to finish your tasks.

Helping Out

Moms can keep their kids engaged in household activities that they enjoy. It could be removing peas from the skin or keeping plates on the table. Your preschooler will love these simple activities while also making them feel responsible and important.

Decorating Box

Offer your kid a box full of socks, handkerchiefs, scarves, hats, old photos, small toys, and jewelry objects with no choking items. Give your kids some decorative materials and allow them to decorate the box with stickers and photos. Let your child use his creative imagination to decorate the box as you finish your other tasks.

Arranging Coins

You can give a small box of coins and tape the coins with several interesting pictures like boats, spiderman, flags, or cars. Label the same pictures with different piggy banks. Your child can match each picture and put them in the piggy case.

Playing with Ice Cubes

All kids love to play with ice cubes. Offer your kid a bowl, spoon, and ice cubes. You will find your little one immersed in playing with these cubes and fidgeting with them. You can use that time to finish your other tasks.

Interesting Books

There are several interesting books available for kids on the internet. You can buy picture books for your pre-schoolers like “Apples and Pumpkins”, “A Fish out of Water” and “Violets are Blue”, that are entertaining and full of visuals. You can also give a picture book of animals.

Your child will adore these attractive books as he turns the pages and tries to identify the pictures. There are also many musical books available in the market that will keep your child entertained.

Mixing Time for your Preschooler

You can give your kids a few bowls with some colorful pulses or dry fruits on them. Your kid will be happily busy mixing these things. You can also give them colors to mix and have fun with.

Locks and Keys

If your kid is a bit older, you can give them a box of locks and keys. Let your child play with them and allow them to find out the correct lock for the keys. They will be too captivated by this simple game while you can finish your other errands.

Playing with Yarn

You can give your kids colorful balls of yarn. They would play with them and make strings or dots with them. Your kids will happily explore playing with these yarns.

Make a Fort

Give your child a few pillows and blankets and tell them to make a fort out of it. Allow your kids to have fun with pillows and play with them. Once they are inside, they are likely to play independently for a considerable amount of time. Your little one will be creating a lot of activities with them.

Watering Plants

Preschooler activity

Encourage your child to grow herbs or flower plants on the windowsill or in your garden. Your little one will gladly be occupied in taking care of the plants, observing the leaves and flowers, and watering them.

Play with a Camera

You can give your child to play with an old digital camera. Your little one will love to engross himself with the camera as he attempts to take selfies and videos on his own.

A New Device

Offer your child a flashlight, a magnifying glass, or a combination lock and allow them to play with the new tools for themselves. Your little one will love to fiddle with these devices for a rather long time.

Lacing Cards

You can give your child the activity of lacing cards. This activity will also help your little one to work out his tiny wrists while strengthening his pincer grip.

Drawing Books

Give your preschooler a few drawing books, crayons, and markers. Encourage him to draw and before long, you will find your kid engrossed in doing a lot of adorable funny sketches, cartoons, and drawings by himself. If your child gets bored easily offer him different types of writing material such as paper, chalkboard and dry erase whiteboards. And let him unleash his creativity.

The above activities can hopefully help moms to keep their kids away from screen time. Your pre-schooler kid may put up a fuss initially if he is not used to playing independently. But keep attempting and gradually your kid will love to play with the creative interesting indoor activities.

Meanwhile, you can do your work peacefully as your little one gets engrossed with the screen-free playtime ideas that you have introduced! Please leave your ideas in the comments!
