One of the best ways to introduce your baby to lavender aromatherapy is with lavender sachets. There are many options for lavender aromatherapy sachets. You can place a few sachets under a baby’s pillow and the rest next to a baby’s crib. Lavender sachets are made from lavender buds, which have been dried and extracted from the plant. Ensure to keep this sachet in a secure place to prevent the baby from ingesting these buds.

Baby’s Circadian Rhythms and Sleep Patterns

The suprachiasmatic nucleus nucleus is a nerve made up of cells in the middle of the brain. It is at the junction of the optic nerves and the brain. It tunes the SCN between night and day. The SCN detects darkness and triggers the production of the sleep hormone melatonin. Melatonin production continues throughout the night until the SCN is activated to stop by daylight.

The baby’s natural night and day rhythm establishes their circadian rhythm. It’s a biological schedule that contains genes, hormones and other things that regulate different behaviors.

Babies are born in darkness, and their internal clocks develop slowly after birth. This means that a baby can’t sleep like a baby naturally.

Essential oils of true lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia) are the best for aromatherapy. Crucial oils of true lavender contain gentle chemical components, alcohols and esters. This makes them especially suitable for use with babies. You should start in small quantities, as babies are much smaller than adults and won’t need the same amount.

Baby skin is more open to lotions than oil massage oils. So, if you are unsure, use lavender oil in cream. It is also less slippery than vegetable oil. To help your baby sleep, you can lightly massage it with lavender lotion. If essential oils are new to you, consult an experienced aromatherapist for guidance on the amount to use. A child’s weight will determine the number of essential oils they should use. One drop of lavender oil suffices for babies.
