Who doesn’t like birthdays? We all do! And especially your little ones who wait for their birthdays with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. And we want to make their birthdays as special as possible. So, today I have some birthday party decor ideas for kids that you can easily follow and create on your own.
I didn’t have to search far and wide for party ideas as I have a bunch of amazingly creative mommies who are also my dear friends. Some are also my ideas. While a few of the decoration ideas are fully DIY, the others are a combination of both DIY and store-bought items.
DIY Birthday Party Decor:
1. Jungle Theme
My friend Sheela Chandra Ray arranged this beautiful decoration for her son’s first birthday party. She is immaculate and very hard-working, and that shows in this design. It is a simple design yet fun and interesting. All that you require are colorful craft papers, scissors, glue, a pencil, balloons, and a photo banner of your adorable cherub. The “Happy Birthday” banner is cute as it includes little glasses, hats, bows, and ties. Just ensure to measure your papers properly when cutting to make them look neat and tidy.
2. Rainbow and Clouds Birthday Party Theme
This is a lovely theme and I decorated it for my daughter’s first birthday. Though I could have done better, I am quite impressed by how pretty it looked. I bought this set from Amazon and they had several designs. I chose to go with this one. Though I didn’t have the balloon arch kit, I managed with a long rope I had at home. Just tied 2-3 balloons together at a time and put them around the rope to make the pattern. You wouldn’t even know if I didn’t tell you! I made the high chair banner with crepe streamers and they looked cute. Yes, it is time-consuming, and you will need to prepare beforehand to get it done on time.
3. Night and Day Theme
How cute is this theme! And how well-made! My dear friend Jhuma Makal executed this decoration for her son’s 6th birthday party. It happened in the middle of the pandemic. And how creative she was! It was all DIY decor and was prepared using some colorful papers, glue, scissors, and a pencil. While the day theme included the sun, a rainbow, a plane, and some hot air balloons, the night theme was all about stars, clouds, and a rocket zooming away!
I am sure your kid will love this theme and design. They also had a space-themed cake to go with the decor.
4. Floral Birthday Party Theme
I did this decoration for my older daughter’s 4th birthday party. She loves flowers and butterflies, and of course purple and pink. So I created flowers with balloons and a rope. Also, made some butterflies with paper, glue, and a pair of scissors. The balloons are a little disproportionate here but you can always make them perfect! Also, I used fabric flowers and leaves to go with the balloons.
My daughter loves berries, and because it went perfectly with the color theme, we got a berry cake for her. It was superbly delicious! She loved posing with the balloons and the flowers. And it was also budget-friendly birthday decor.
5. Wheels On the Bus Theme
This is such a cute theme. And how talented this mummy is! Sheela created this theme for her son who is a huge fan of the “Wheels on the Bus” rhyme. And to make his birthday even better, she put in a lot of effort to prepare the props. She cut out the bus from a box. She also used it later as a photo prop. It is an amazing birthday decor idea especially for the warmer months as you can have a photo session like the one seen above. However, it is perfect for winter too to cozy up in the comforts of your home.
To go with the theme, she also built a few cars from diaper boxes. The balloon decorations and the banner complement the theme perfectly.
6. Construction Theme
This is an excellent theme for all those little ones who love trucks and construction vehicles. The entire set can be found on Amazon. My friend Bula Banerjee kept this theme for her son who loves construction vehicles. It is bright with a lot of fun elements. I am sure your kid will enjoy this theme a lot. She also ordered a cake to go with the theme and it matches great.
I loved writing this article because I had seen these mommies create them from scratch. And also the love and effort they poured into making them a success. Hope you will like all these ideas and will be able to implement them easily.
Do let us know in the comments what theme you used for your little ones’ birthday this year! Looking forward to all the fun ideas.
