20 Entertaining Books to Read to Your Toddlers

What could be a better way to bond with your child than sitting down with a book! A child learns the most in a mother’s lap. Books are magical and so are the written words. It is best to introduce your child to the world of books as young as possible. There is no set age to start reading. The more they are exposed to books, the more they will learn to appreciate them. I have compiled a list of 20 books to read to your toddlers.

These books are educational yet entertaining. And they have been written keeping in mind the developmental milestones of toddlers. Hope you find the below list of 20 entertaining books to read to your toddlers useful:

1. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

It is one of the best-selling American books for children. The book helps you introduce letters to your little toddlers in the most entertaining way. It is a fun story about how all the lowercase letters climb up a coconut tree and makes the tree bend. The uppercase letters follow to help the lowercase alphabets! I am sure your little one will laugh and enjoy the book with you.

2. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Written by Bill Martin Jr., it helps toddlers identify colors and associate them with different objects. The different characters in the book are a brown bear, a red bird, a yellow duck, a  blue horse, a green frog, a white dog, a goldfish, a purple cat, a black sheep, a school teacher, and children. Thus, they also learn to recognize different types of animals.

It is one of my daughter’s favorite books, and we had read it almost every day for a few months. The Going to Bed Book showcases the night routine of the animal characters in the book. Thus, it could be a great bedtime book for your little child.

4. The Very Hungry Caterpillar

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of the most popular children’s books, and have been read and enjoyed by children worldwide. Written by Eric Carle, it has won many awards and had sold almost 50 million copies around the globe. It describes very beautifully the life stages of a caterpillar. And it also teaches numbers, days of the week, and colors through the story.

Written by Roger Priddy, this book is a must for toddlers. As the book itself is self-explanatory, it helps children learn new words to grow their vocabulary. It is colorful and eye-catching for little kids.

This book takes us back to our childhood when we were concerned about swallowing a seed. Kids will love this book that tells a story of a funny crocodile whose biggest fear is swallowing a seed. Beautifully illustrated, this book is a comic delight.

This is a beautiful way to teach diversity to young learners. My heart just melts every time I read this book. And both my 4-year-old and my 1-year-old loves this book.

10. High Five Animals

A funny board book with the most interesting characters, it will teach your kids to identify animals and the sounds they make. Beautifully illustrated, your kids will love each one of the animal characters.
