As a mother, we are always on the lookout for the best for our kids especially when it comes to their skincare. On this journey, I have used several babycare products some of which were very good while some were quite disappointing.
Today I will be reviewing Maate, (the Sanskrit word for Mother) an Indian baby brand founded by Priyanka Chaudhary Raina which brings premium products that are inspired by Ayurveda and are completely free from any harmful chemicals. The formulators in Maate have kept age-old traditions in mind while also incorporating modern-day science while sourcing the best ingredients that nature has to offer. Thus, creating a perfect blend of products nurtured with love and care.
The brand sent us a gift set box of six products comprising Maate baby body butter, face butter, baby body wash, baby shampoo, baby massage oil, and baby hair oil. If we talk about the packaging of the products, the overall feel of the products feels very premium and plush. But let us not get starry-eyed with its packaging alone and look at the contents of the products.
Maate Face Butter
Maate body butter and face butter are enriched with Avocado and Chamomile oil which is rich in antioxidants and Sterolin which helps to soften the skin. While chamomile is known for its calming and relaxing properties.
Maate Body Butter
A light non greasy body butter that comprises an exotic blend of 9 precious oils and natural butter along with Kokum butter, known for its powerful moisturizing properties. It also contains saffron oil which is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals along with Vetiver oil which is used for skin cell regeneration helping boost the growth of new cells.
Maate Baby Body Wash
The body wash is extremely gentle, soap, and tear-free containing the goodness of Beetroot, Hibiscus which is beneficial for hydrating the skin along with Nagarmotha and Manjistha which is beneficial for bacterial and fungal infections as it contains antimicrobial properties, and Lavender oil which is known for its calming properties.
Maate Baby Shampoo
Maate baby shampoo does not contain any harmful chemicals and uses mild plant-based cleansers. The key ingredients in this shampoo consist of green gram which has a lot of essential vitamins, fats and minerals that help to reduce hair breakage. Also, it is power packed with vitamin C and antioxidants that help in hair growth. It also has Fenugreek seed, Amla and Hibiscus that strengthen the hair shaft and help to reduce hair fall.
Maate Baby Hair Oil
Enriched with 15 precious oils, Maate baby hair oil also contains the goodness of Hibiscus, Gurhal which helps to improve hair strength, Bhringraj is known for its hair growth properties, Almond, Sage and Curry leaf oil which helps in preventing hair thinning.
Maate Baby Massage Oil
Baby massage is an integral part of a baby’s growth and we have been following it for ages. Maate baby massage oil has 10 precious oil consisting of sesame oil, sunflower oil, wheat germ oil, and fennel oil along with the goodness of Brahmi, Noni, a powerful antioxidant, and Pomegranate seed oil.
My take on the Products
I have taken a fair amount of time to use these products on my daughter and overall the experience has been good. Both the face and body butters are nourishing and don’t feel oily or sticky and settle into a matte finish. So I feel it can suit all skin types and even oily-skinned babies can use this without any fuss.
The baby wash is mild as it claims and did not dry out my daughter’s normal to dry skin. Before her bath, I also tried the baby massage oil and it was good as after her wash the skin felt supple and soft. I tried the massage oil on my skin, and after my bath, my skin did feel soft in this cold winter. One small thing with the massage oil was its strong pungent smell of sesame oil. If you have a sensitive nose then you may find the smell overpowering.
The baby hair oil has a nice smell and does the job well of providing nourishment to the hair while making the hair soft. However, about its claims of hair growth, I still need to use it long-term to see the benefits.
Lastly, the baby shampoo is mild and lathers moderately. The shampoo does not irritate the eyes and leaves the hair clean without drying my daughter’s dry strands. So overall Maate products did not disappoint me, and my daughter did not have any issues with the products. Also, they are Vegan, cruelty-free, and also paraben and sulphate free.
Conclusion
So I have liked the products you must be wondering how come I have only the good thing to say. The products that I have received, worked well for my daughter and she did not have any negative reactions to them. The only drawback that I can say about the Maate products is its price point. Though it is a premium baby care brand, still I feel the price of its products is on the pricier side. Apart from this point, I feel it’s a good brand with great quality products.
