8 Must-Follow Parenting Essentials for Your Bundle of Joy

November 12, 2018 by Rima 8 Comments

Parenthood is a spectrum of emotion, a rollercoaster ride where you can feel joy, happiness, pride, panic, anger, despair and so on and so forth. Motherhood is an emotion that is divine and a feeling that is truly incomparable. But with this happiness also comes the share of responsibilities. Parenting is a tough job and you will have lots of questions. It never comes with an infallible guide or a manual nor does a child come with any instruction manual. Every family and situation is unique. We have compiled a quick list of Parenting essentials to take care of your newborn.

A Quick Look at the Different Essentials Every Parent Should Follow

1. Hygiene

A newborn baby will be extremely vulnerable to infection, thus it is vital to keep the baby clean and hygienic. Your responsibility does not end here. It is equally vital to keep the baby’s toys, room, and any other object clean. Most importantly before touching the baby be it you or any other person should sanitize both hands thoroughly. After all your bundle of joy is gentle so you need to handle him/her with care.

2. Crying

Always remember when it comes to taking care of your newborn their key medium of communication will be crying. He/she will cry when they feel uncomfortable, need your attention, or are hungry. Do not get annoyed with their cranky nature.

3. Carrying

While holding the baby ensure to support both the neck and the head always. If you put the newborn in a stroller or use a sling ensure that he/she is secure. Avoid bouncing or shaking the newborn in the air because this can prove fatal for the child.

4. Sleep

Normally a newborn will sleep anywhere between 12-16 hours daily. They may also sleep during odd hours because they have not yet developed their circadian rhythm. When the baby has fallen asleep make the most of the time by taking a nap to get enough rest and avoid getting tired.

5. Feeding

In the initial couple of months, breastfeeding the baby will be the right choice but if this is not possible using baby formula can help. Later on, gradually start to introduce very soft foods like mashed vegetables or fruits. This way you can introduce your little one to solid food. Do not forget to burp the baby post-feeding to avoid tummy aches.

6. Bonding

Bonding and connecting with your bundle of joy is extremely crucial particularly during the first couple of days after their birth. Stroke the baby gently and cradle them because this is vital for their development. Leave no stone unturned to cater to your baby’s requirements.

7. Diaper Changes

Relax there is nothing to worry about when it comes to changing your baby’s diaper. Changing the diaper every 2-3 hours will make you an expert soon. Always keep the baby’s butt comfortable and dry. This will keep the baby clean and ensure he/she does not cry much.

8. Soothing

Taking care of a newborn is never easy. A newborn will cry a lot so it is vital for you to soothe the baby and also discover the reason as to why the baby is crying. Figure out if the baby has soiled the diaper, is hungry, or is there any other reason why the baby is feeling uncomfortable. Learning about the cause will help you in soothing the baby better.

Your newborn will not remain a bundle of joy forever, so enjoy this phase to the fullest. Having a baby indeed is one of the best feelings of being a parent. Watching your little one grow with each passing day is a moment to treasure. Taking proper care of the baby can be pretty stressful but there is just no comparison to the joy which a newborn can bring to the family. Happy parenting!!! If you wish to explore more visit here
