It is not easy to raise even a single child or babies with some gap, so what about when you have to raise twins at one time. You might be facing many difficulties and might be a part of daily hassles. You can make your life free of tensions and can become a sweet dreamer by following these steps:
Maintain a Schedule
It’s difficult enough with a single infant, but everything has to be on a schedule with newborn twins. You should try to get the babies on the same eating and sleeping schedule. They will finally figure out how to adjust. A planned and predictable program allows each family member to function to their full potential. Your children will feel safer if they know what will happen and what to expect next. When practical, getting babies on the same sleep pattern offers you a few minutes to not go at full speed. As the twin babies get older, they will become accustomed to following away.
You Can Breastfeed Both Babies at the Same Time
Breastfeeding allows you to feed twin babies at the exact moment, with one twin on each breast. It does, however, need a tremendous deal of cooperation and patience. You can breastfeed and/or bottle-feed your twins at the same time. Babies can be bottle-fed simultaneously if they are propped up in your lap or next to you using pillows. Breastfeeding twins is also doable using pads created notably to support a newborn. Burping two babies might be difficult because it should happen spontaneously just after each one has been fed.
One Crib is Acceptable in the Beginning
Newborn twins can share a crib at first. If they sleep better knowing the other is around, crib-sharing can remain until they are ready to go into their childhood bedrooms. Studies show that putting twins in the same crib can help them regulate their body temperatures and sleep cycles, and can soothe them and their twins. Thus, it can also give you some much-needed time to rest if they sleep well.
When twins start rolling, bumping into each other, and waking each other up, many parents will convert to two cribs. While one crib is plenty, two car seats and a double stroller are required for newborn twins.
Connect With Other Parents Who Have Twins
Parents of twins can develop a wealth of brace for each other by sharing their knowledge and experiences in raising twins. Make an effort to connect with other parents who had twins to understand how you can make changes to your lifestyle to manage everything better. Sometimes, even a conversation with someone who understands your situation could help you relax and rewind.
Meal Preparation is a Must
When kids start weaning, preparing your meals in batches will save you time. Spend a Sunday afternoon cooking and freezing all of their meals for the week. All you’ll have to do is de-ice and heat. Making meals on the fly may be stressful, especially if you have hungry crying babies on your back.
Also, do not forget to cook yourself meals in batches and freeze them. Cooking takes up a lot of time. So, if you could save that time by planning your meals, life will get much easier.
Buy In Bulk
Running to the shop to restock those stock baby things is something I dread and know I don’t have time for. Have baby wipes, formula/baby food, diaper cream, and diapers on hand. They empty fast and with twins, you will finish them faster.
Bathe Your Twins Every Few Days
Only do baths every few days and sponge baths in between. Bathing two babies is a time-consuming and challenging chore. Don’t be concerned about bathing them every day. Bathing them just every 3 or 4 days is good enough. Simply use a moist warm towel and soap to wash their cheeks, necks, and hands every day (bottoms get washed after every diaper change), and then give them a thorough bath once or twice a week.
Use Cloth Bibs
Using cloth bibs can help you reduce your laundry. Swap them out every couple of hours instead of going through the hassle of regularly replacing filthy cotton bibs. This also considerably minimizes the dirty laundry pile.
Pay Someone For Help
Now is not the time to don your superman cape and attempt to accomplish everything. I’m sure you can do it all, but at what cost? If we had more money, you can be sure we would have employed a maid, a cook, and a babysitter. Have difficulty nursing your newborn twins? Get a lactation specialist out there as soon as possible. Do your twins only sit on one of your swings? Buy another one, for God’s sake. Do your tiny angels want you to hold them all the time? Spend a little more money and buy a baby carrier so you can wear them both at the same time. Pay to have your groceries delivered; it’s an entirely affordable expense.
With some planning and support, you can manage your new life. Just remember to take care of yourself as your mental and physical well-being is very important. If you do not take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of your kids.
Hope the above tips were helpful. Please share your experiences with your twins in the comments. We look forward to them.
